Extreme Wildfire Risk

🔥 Fire Safety Reminder – Let’s Keep Our Community Safe 🔥
Ontario is experiencing extremely dry conditions, which means fires can start and spread much faster than usual. Even a small spark — like a cigarette butt from a vehicle — can lead to a dangerous wildfire.
Two wildfires, HAL018 south of Coe Hill and HAL019 between Kinmount and Bobcaygeon, continue to burn.
Please help keep our community safe by avoiding open air burning.
Here’s how we can all help:
Never throw cigarette butts on the ground or from vehicles — use proper ashtrays.
Avoid outdoor burning during dry spells — Haldimand County does not have a fire ban in place, but many neighbouring municipalities do.
Keep campfires, recreational fires and ceremony fires small and supervised — have water or sand nearby to put it out.
Don’t burn on windy days — wind can carry sparks far beyond your fire pit.
Fully extinguish fires — soak, stir, and soak again until cold to the touch.
Stay with your fire at all times!
Wildfires in Ontario not only threaten homes and wildlife but also impact air quality for nearby communities. Together, we can reduce the risk and protect the land we all share.
