Lloyd S. King Elementary School (LSK), part of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN), is seeking a passionate, student-centered Elementary Teacher who is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and culturally grounded learning environment. Key Responsibilities
As an LSK Teacher, you will:
- Create a welcoming, respectful classroom that prioritizes student well-being, belonging, confidence, and identity.
- Deliver engaging, inclusive, and culturally relevant instruction aligned with the Ontario Curriculum.
- Integrate Anishinaabe culture, language, traditions, and teachings into daily learning.
- Use differentiated and Universal Design for Learning strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Maintain accurate records, assessments, and documentation in accordance with school and Ministry requirements.
- Participate in school improvement planning, professional development, and community events.
- Support student behavior using restorative practices and the Seven Grandfather Teachings.
- Ensure a safe, organized, and supportive classroom environment.
What You Bring
- Bachelor of Education and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
- Qualifications in Primary, Junior, or Intermediate divisions.
- A genuine passion for working in Indigenous education and uplifting First Nation learners.
- Strong understanding of child development and inclusive teaching practices.
- Ability to integrate First Nation culture, language, and ways of knowing into teaching.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and community collaboration.
- Assets: Experience teaching in a First Nation community, Anishinaabe cultural knowledge, Non-violent Crisis Intervention training.
