LSK Caretaker Supervisor

The MISSISSAUGAS OF THE CREDIT FIRST NATION is accepting applications for the full-time, permanent position of LSK Caretaker Supervisor.

We are seeking a reliable, organized, and hands-on LSK Caretaker Supervisor who will play an essential role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the LSK Caretaker Supervisor oversees custodial operations, facility inspections, building maintenance, and caretaking staff while ensuring school facilities and grounds are maintained to the highest standards. This position is ideal for an individual who takes pride in facility operations, team leadership, and delivering quality service to the community.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate and perform regular caretaking and cleaning of all school facilities and grounds.
  • Oversee annual summer cleaning and scheduled deep-cleaning activities.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, grounds, and life safety systems.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs and report major repair requirements
  • Respond to security calls and monitor the safety and security of school facilities.
  • Maintain inventories, order custodial supplies, and support the purchase order process.
  • Prepare records, reports, logs, budgets, and estimates for maintenance projects.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, training, and direction to caretaking staff, contractors, and seasonal workers.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security procedures and the safe use of equipment and materials.
  • Support year-round facility operations, including snow removal, salting walkways, and urgent facility needs.


Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for candidates who bring:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • WHMIS certification and safety training, including training in the operation of a sky-jack lift.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience with the ability to provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff.
  • Direct experience in building maintenance, custodial operations, facility inspections, and minor repairs.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and prepare technical drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with effective organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the ability to complete administrative reports, budgets, inventories, and scheduling tasks.
  • Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, contractors, community members, and diverse stakeholders while maintaining a culturally responsive approach.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening; First Nations ancestry and experience working in Indigenous communities are considered assets.
