THE MISSISSAUGAS OF THE CREDIT FIRST NATION is accepting applications for the full-time, permanent position of Children’s Mental Health Worker.
We are seeking a compassionate, culturally responsive, and dedicated Children’s Mental Health Worker to support the mental health and wellness of children and youth (ages 6–18). This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful impact by providing counselling, advocacy, and culturally grounded mental health supports while working collaboratively with families, schools, and community partners to promote healing and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide individual and group counselling, healing circles, and culturally appropriate mental health supports for children and youth.
- Develop individualized service plans that promote healing, wellness, and positive outcomes for children and families.
- Collaborate with schools, healthcare professionals, and community agencies to coordinate wrap-around services and supports.
- Promote mental health awareness through community outreach, education, and family engagement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate case files, documentation, reports, and statistical records while ensuring confidentiality and legislative compliance.
- Participate in clinical supervision, case conferences, and continuous professional development to support high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for candidates who bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Psychotherapy, or a related field with two (2) years of counselling experience with children and youth; OR a diploma in Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Counselling, or a related field with three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
- Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families, and communities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive, trauma-informed approaches to healing and wellness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain accurate documentation and confidential client records.
- Valid Class “G” driver’s licence, satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check, and First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Assets: Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, ASIST and SafeTALK certifications, Experience using trauma-informed and traditional Indigenous healing approaches.
