LAST CHANCE! Exhibition: Treaty 13 at the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite
Posted on November 5, 2026
Last chance to visit! Treaty 13 is on public display at the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite in Toronto until Friday, November 6th. If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, there’s still time!
Presented during Treaties Recognition Week in partnership with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Archives of Ontario, and Library and Archives Canada, this marks the first time in recent memory that Treaty 13 has been made available for public viewing in Toronto.
The exhibition features:
- The 1787 Deed – the original deed records the agreement between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation
- The 1805 Agreement – also known as the Toronto Purchase, clarifying and confirming the purchase boundaries
- The 1805 Map – showing the lands covered by the agreement
Together, these historic records document the treaty relationship covering much of the land that is now Toronto and parts of the Greater Toronto Area.
Treaties are more than historical documents. They are living agreements that continue to shape relationships and responsibilities today. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to reflect on its enduring significance and deepen understanding of treaty relationships in Ontario.
