Poor air quality due to Norther Ont. wildfire smoke
🌫️ Air Quality Advisory 🌫️
Smoke from forest fires in Northern Ontario is affecting air quality in our area. During periods of poor air quality, it’s important to take steps to protect your health especially if you have asthma, heart or lung conditions, are pregnant, are an older adult, or are caring for young children. Visit the Cooling Station at Social and Health in the lower level at 659 New Credit Rd. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Here are a few ways to stay safe:
💨 Limit strenuous outdoor activities and exercise.
🏠 Keep windows and doors closed as much as possible.
❄️ If available, use air conditioning or an air purifier with a clean filter.
😷 If you must spend extended time outdoors, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 or KN95 respirator.
💧 Stay hydrated and pay attention to how you’re feeling.
👶 Check in on Elders, young children, and others who may be more sensitive to smoke.
If you experience severe shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, or worsening symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
Stay informed by monitoring local air quality updates, and take care of yourself and those around you.
