About Rogue Wave 2018: In early 2018 a team formed to re-establish this exhibit for 2018 due to many requests from the arts community, Parks, and the community-at-large. In the spirit of rogue waves – unpredictable, causing disruptions, affecting change – our theme is our changing relationships to water and land. Rogue Wave 2018 will also honour and acknowledge that Toronto Island is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit. We ask artists to consider this theme, but we are also open to other creative responses. The exhibit will involve 30-35 artists – professional, emerging, collectives, and First Nations. The works will be site-specific, created or re-installed on the Island. We ask artists to confirm their participation and submit their application by August 1, 2018. This will enable us to review submissions and site locations with Parks. Please keep in mind that works meet the following criteria:
• Environmentally friendly
• Can endure the elements during the exhibition
• Safe for human interaction
