Toronto Island Bus Tour
09/23/2018 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
This is a bus, bicycle and walking tour of the Toronto Islands led by Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Island elders. We will start from the Shaw House, a short walk from the Ward’s Island Ferry dock. The bus has room for 50 people. Others can cycle along. We will be providing historical and cultural contexts for both settler and indigenous relationships to the islands, with a focus on the Toronto Purchase Treaty. http://mncfn.ca/torontopurchase/ This tour will highlight different socially and environmentally signifi cant areas of the park, and sites where traditional ceremonies have previously been performed – such as Snake Island and Gibraltar Point Beach. It will provide an introduction to each community’s stories about the islands. The tour will include presentations on Ward’s Island and Hanlan’s Point, in which day-visitors will be able to take part.
Registration is required for transportation to the island, and a seat on the bus.
This free tour is open to interested community members.
Snacks will be provided.
