Traditionally, fall is the time of year Anishinaabe People prepared for the long winter ahead. Mark Sault and station leaders will be sharing their knowledge about fall harvest activities; with demonstrations on wild rice and lyed corn. Come on out and increase your traditional knowledge!
This is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather and be prepared to work!
Learn how to fillet giigoonh/fish
Learn the steps to process mnoomin/wild rice
How to shuck and cook mdaamin/lyed corn
Learn how to clean wild bird and cook over fire
Learn the process of tanning hides
Sample all the miijim/food we will be preparing – corn soup, fried fish, smoked meat and salmon, bannock and jam, different wild rice dishes and teas
