A special highlight of the 2020 Historical Gathering occurred when Chief R. Stacey Laforme gifted MCFN Lands, Membership and Research Director and MCFN Member Margaret Sault with an Eagle feather.
“We want to show our appreciation to Margaret Sault for her dedication to the Mississauga Nation and to this event, an event she has been a part of for ten years. I am honoured on behalf of the Chief and Council, our organization, our MCFN members, and the many friends of the Credit to present Margaret with this Eagle feather and this case as a token of respect and thanks”, said Laforme.
The eagle’s feather is one of the most esteemed. The eagle is considered the strongest and bravest of all birds. For this reason, its feathers symbolize what is highest, bravest, strongest, and holiest. An eagle’s feathers are given to another in honour and symbolizes trust, honour, strength, wisdom, power, and freedom and the organization is very proud to have gifted it to a very respected and treasured person in our community.
