Aanii and Good Day MCFN and MCFN Members,

As a member of the Kids Help Phone Indigenous Advisory Council, I would like to share the following employment information in the Indigenous Department of Kids Help Phone with any interested MCFN Members.

Before I share some information on our language initiatives, I wanted to remind everyone that we have some fantastic employment opportunities that are exclusively available to Indigenous individuals. The position of Manager, Indigenous Initiatives will be added to the 6 currently listed positions. With a larger Indigenous Initiatives team we’ll be able to support even more First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in 2021!

The positions are posted at KidsHelpPhone.ca/careers

Language Revitalization
Kids Help Phone is committed to supporting the revitalization of Indigenous languages. We have two immediate language initiatives underway and more in the future and are seeking translators as well as mental health professional to verify the translations. If you are interested, please email me.

Youth Mindfulness Interactive
We’re extremely excited to move forward on the development of a new mindfulness interactive feature for our website. The feature will be similar to our worry rockets and breathing balloon interactives but young people will have the option of toggling between 12 languages. The languages will include Inuktut, Michif and eight First Nations languages. For some Indigenous young people, this will be an opportunity to access resources in their own language. For many settler youth, this will be beautiful introduction to Indigenous languages and an illustration of the distinctiveness of Inuit, First Nations, and Métis peoples.

We are seeking an Indigenous firm to develop this feature. The RFP is available at the link below and closes on January 3rd, 2021. Please share!

Translation of Website Content
Kids Help Phone is constantly working to reduce the barriers Indigenous youth face in accessing mental health supports. For many Indigenous youth, language is a significant barrier. In early 2021, we are thrilled to begin translating select content pieces from our website into 10 Indigenous languages.  Five pieces will be translated and available as downloadable PDFs for printing and sharing with First Nations, Inuit and Metis young people.

Graphic Designers
We’re also seeking Indigenous graphic designers for ongoing work. Graphic Designers are encouraged to email me  if you are interested to discuss upcoming opportunities and I will gladly connect you with the appropriate staff. Again, please share!

Subscribe for Future Updates
We have a number of partnership opportunities, new Indigenous programs, and service innovations to share with you over the coming months so please subscribe here to be added to this Indigenous Initiatives Network.

Best and Safe wishes to everyone over the holiday season!
