Aanii Mississauga Nation members! The Mississauga Nation has partnered with Nish Tees to distribute Orange Shirt Day T-Shirts to members for FREE. Limited quantities available.
This year, the Mississauga Nation is doing their part to raise awareness about the legacy and impact of residential schools on Indigenous lives. More than 150,000 youth were taken away from their families to attend these schools. Over 6,000 children lost their lives. The last school closed in 1996. The impact of residential schools can still be felt to this day.
This Orange Shirt was designed by Nish Tees and depicts the Mshiikenh (turtle). As part of the grandfather teachings, the Mshiikenh represents the truth that each person can walk through life with. Knowing yourself and being true to you is an important step in being truthful to others.
